Rescue Organisation Ireland National Extrication Challenge

Rescue Challenge 2012 - March 24th & 25th - Ashbourne Fire Station

Rescue Organisation Ireland will be holding the next National RTC & Trauma Challenge in Ashbourne Fire Station, Co Meath on the weekend after St Patricks weekend – Sat 24th & Sun 25th March 2012.

It will be a 2 day event involving extrication and trauma challenges.

There will be a standard (20 min) and rapid (10 min) challenge for each extrication team, one scenario on each day. There will also be 2 trauma scenarios, one on each day. As well as teams from around the country we will also have some visiting international teams taking part – from Britain (confirmed) and Spain (awaiting confirmation). (The Russian Rescue team has also expressed interest.)

As always the event will be free & open to attendance by the public, and should also prove very interesting for any emergency services personnel in particular who wish to come along and watch.

To register you can email registration@rescue-org-ireland.com

Rescue Organisation Ireland - 2011 National Challenge

Rescue Organisation Ireland National Extrication Challenge 2011 was held in Dundalk Fire station on March 18th 2011. The event saw 18 teams take part in the event which included for the first time a Trauma Challenge.

The EXTRICATION challenges involve the simulated rescue of a trapped casualty from a severely damaged vehicle within a 20 minute ('Standard') and a 10 minute ('Rapid') timeframe. This vehicle contains a live casualty and other vehicles and/or staging props are used to act as obstacles. As in a real incident the 5-firefighter teams use specialist tools and hydraulic equipment to rescue the casualty. Each team is then marked by a panel of 3 ROI assessors.

The TRAUMA challenge involves the simulation of a trauma incident and the treatment of a casualty within a 10 minute timeframe before the arrival of the ambulance service. The challenge allows a 2-firefighter team to deal with a live casualty suffering from a severe trauma and this is then assessed by a panel of 2 ROI assessors.

The top 3 ranked teams will be facilitated to attend the World Rescue Challenge 2011 to be held in New Zealand, the Spanish National Challenge 2011 & the Scottish National Challenge 2011 respectively.
